How do I get a compromise agreement

If you’re reading this you ve obviously heard about compromise agreements, but haven’t been offered one yet. Panic not. The first rule to obtaining compromise agreements is to not sound too desperate when you approach your employer for one. This kind of reverse psychology makes them sweat a little and should increase the amount of any settlement which you eventually reach. In fact, it is often best to leave it to them to suggest a compromise agreement in the first place. One way of bringing things to a head can be to submit a written grievance to management or HR. Although this can seem daunting at the time, it is normally sufficient just to set out a brief outline of the situation to your employer and head it up with the title formal written grievance. You will inevitably be sked to attend a grievance hearing , which is in fact just a meeting with HR whereby they stonewall your complaints whilst appearing to be concerned. A little known fact is that you can request for the grievance process to be conducted in writing, if you are off sick or otherwise too ill to attend hearings.

At any point during the grievance process, especially if you appeal their decision, and ask some difficult questions, you ll probably be invited for an off the record chat and be offered a compromise agreement. he stress of playing the waiting game can get too much for some people, especially if they have tto face awkward situations with their boss on a daily basis in the meantime, and they decide to just leave without saying anything.

If things do become too much to deal with, think about using our specialist negotiators to open up a dialogue for you, either directly with your employer, or by subtly coaching you what to say. Try to keep everything in emails and we can tell you exactly what to say, thus taking the pressure off you whilst turning the screws on management about some legal loophole which you never knew existed. We specialise in negotiating in return for a slice of the proceeds, which is ideal because we will only agree to this method of remuneration if we believe in the strength of your case (which we assess for free).
